Alice in Steampunk World part 1 - World of Steampunk
Alice in Steampunk World part 2 - AGA's Steampunk lineup
Alice in Steampunk World part 3 - World of Alice
Alice in Steampunk World part 4 - AGA characters in Wonderland
We've started releasing the 'Alice in Steampunk World' lineup for 2015. As the name itself, this AGA design series is a mix of two different concepts, 'Steampunk' and 'Alice in Wonderland'. We wanted to do some small talk about the concept of 'Steampunk' for those who are unaware.
Steampunk is a movement in SF that started in the 19th century, when Victorian fashion was in and the Industrial revolution was on going in Europe. The whole theme has a post-apocalyptic spirit that shows in its innovative fashion. It's not only about the clothes; its about a fantasy life style. Steampunk guidelines cover everything from hairstyling, jewelry, body modification, make-up, gadgets to contrasting accoutrements,
Steampunk fashion is influenced by the fashion of the early 19th century but later on, merged fashion trends from different historical periods. Steampunk clothing adds the looks of characters from the 19th century, explorers, soldiers, lords, countesses and harlots, to the punk, contemporary street fashion, burlesque, goth, fetishism and vampire.
Here are some simple rules to do the proper Steampunk look
Rule 1
Steampunk fashion is a real-world reproduction of the clothing that is or could be found in steampunk literature. It's that simple.
Rule 2
When in doubt, dress Victorian and then add.
Rule 3
Do not be misled, coerced, or second-guessed into including a collection of 'steampunk status symbols'
Rule 4
There is no 'steampunk color'. so it is perfectly reasonable to have vibrant colors and complicated machine-made patterns.
Rule 5
You are allowed to like other genres. Do not feel compelled to try and wedge it under the steampunk caption.
Rule 6
Have fun and be yourself.

All this small talk about Steampunk fashion could make you clueless, but not to worry, I bet many of our fans have already seen various films that show Steampunk fashion like, 'Laputa: Castle in the Sky', 'The City of Lost Children', 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen', 'Howl's Moving Castle', 'Van Helsing', 'Sherlock Holmes' or the recent 'Mad Max, Fury Road'.
Within the Steampunk fashion, there are a number of personas, or archetypes, such as the valiant explorer with pith helmet, brass telescope and binoculars; the debonair aviator with birdlike gadgets and devices, leather helmet, brass goggles and canvas coat; and the gentleman, with a lab coat over formal clothes and belts for all sorts of implements and instruments. On part 2 we will check those personas in our Original Steampunk dolls.
